l have been a part of a few successful wildlife rescues and educate people on wildlife and environmental issues. We have helped in issues to save wetlands, woodlands etc.to save the precious life within. It is well worth the effort. We can all learn to live and work together. Education is the key. In 2011 I won an education award from Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority for the work and photography I do. Habitat is fast disappearing and with it, many species are also declining in numbers. So many species can actually tell us the health of our environment and alert us to problems we need to know about. They all need to be protected.

Muskoka chairs

On our ride up the river in Washago we saw lot of muskoka chairs. Different colors and shapes and even a couple rockers. Liked those. Couldn't resist taking some shots of them just for fun.

Geese & gosslings,May,23/10

These older gosslings were having a nice quiet time on the shoreline.
There was 2 pairs here with their young ones. Was a very busy place.

Geese and their gosslings. This little one must be tired. It's got it's chin resting on Mom's tail. Very cute.
Following Mom.
This would be one of my yard feeders. The red bellied wants to get on here and the m. doves are not to sure about that one.

Loon on nest,May/10

Out for a paddle we found this loon sitting on it's nest. l had my 500 mm zoom lens on and got some great shots. She barely moved while we paddled by. Another important reason to save our wetlands ,rivers and lakes. Keep them clean and natural. What a beautiful sight. Have posted a few shots l took and l can tell you l will always cherish the moment.

Common merganser family coming out of the nest box,May 23/10

We spent the morning with some friends in Washago. An absolutely beautiful place to go. They took us for a lovely boat ride up the river. Driving by this nest box there was a female sitting on top. We noticed another female in the box looking agitated with this one. But nothing else noted at the time. Pretty quiet.
Coming back down the river. This is what we saw. Actually we heard this wee one first. And thought ,looks like this box has hatched and is fledging. Only thing is the babe here is being treated badly by this female. Who clearly wanted nothing to do with it. But it cried and cried and kept on at this female like it was it's mom. The female could not shake it at all. We were getting concerned. But the duckling kept on. Even when she tried to fly away this little one chased her. Boy could it move. Amazing for a duckling only hours old. The female pocked at it,pulled at it. put it's head between the bill and everything it could to try to get rid of it. The following series of photographs shows the story. Which, thankfully has a happy ending.

Putting the wee ones head in her mouth trying to get rid of it. Clearly not wanting it around.

This wee one was the first one out and this was not it's mom. And this female was not nice at all to this wee duckling. Although the duckling still thought it was mom and kept peeping and following no matter what.
Mom and a duckling looking out. Mom was getting agitated to get out to the crying duckling.
Duckling chasing after the female that was trying to get rid of it. This little thing kept right up to her even when she flew.
